Lecture “The Courage to Wellcome Joy”

April 8, 2026
18:30
3rd floor of the PinchukArtCentre, exhibition space

Is it always easy for us to feel joy? Why does it sometimes seem inappropriate or even forbidden — especially in difficult times?

On Wednesday, April 8 at 18:30, as part of the public program for the exhibition “Joy,” we invite you to reflect on joy as an experience that requires courage.
This lecture is an opportunity to reconsider joy as an inner resource — and to allow yourself to feel it even when it seems most difficult.

During the event, psychologist Maryna Dvornyk-Kozachinska will address the following questions:
— why it is important to experience all emotions, not only the “positive” ones;
— why joy can feel vulnerable or even forbidden, and where feelings of fear or shame around joy come from;
— how traumatic experiences affect our ability to feel joy;
— how joy can become a source of strength for living and resisting, even in challenging times.
